The spectacular Three Gorges are the most dramatic features of the Yangtze River and lie between Yichang and Chongqing. The scenery is varied
with each part of the journey displaying
unique characteristics. The Qutang Gorge is
the narrowest of the gorges and is the most
dramatic; the Wu Gorge is often considered the most beautiful with
the river lined by forested mountains; while
the Xiling Gorge is the longest and deepest.
You can enjoy the views from your ship’s observation
deck or from your own private balcony.
A highlight of your cruise is a trip along one of the river’s tributaries, either the Goddess Stream, Daning River Small Gorges or Shennong Stream, all of which are noted for their narrow width and high cliffs. Transfer to a smaller vessel to explore the upper reaches. Also visit the Ghost City of Fengdu, a collection of Daoist temples and shrines built on a hillside overlooking the river. Further excursions such as Tribe of the Three Gorges may be offered depending on your ship’s itinerary. All Yangtze excursions operate on a group basis with other cruise passengers.
